Membership Meeting for Dan Sullivan
April 28th, 2011
Clint: How did you hear about Loth?
Dan: I searched google and found the MCC page. I have looked at a few co-ops and have narrowed it down to your house and Ambrosia. Your house sounds like the most fun. It's right on the lake and the largest. I am a NASCO member and lived at Bowers co-op here in Hyde Park.
Zach: Are you bringing any pets? Can you tell a story about a house conflict and how it was mediated?

Create Guidelines for how to charge for child members
Submitted by Glyphia on April 26, 2011 - 4:31am
Time estimate:
15 minutes
Type:
decision Problem:
We don't have an official policy on how to charge for child members. This allows for inconsistency in how we deal with it and potentially confusion for people membershipping with children.
Ideas:
Let's create an official policy. One suggestion is to not charge child members age 12 and under room sharing or food fees.
Pros:
Should create more consistency in how we deal with charging for child members.
Pros:
By not charging child members the rest of the members are in effect giving the parents a subsidy which may encourage people with children to move in.
Cons:
Creates an arbitrary age for charging child members.
Cons:
Some people may be against the idea of subsidies and/or encouraging people with children to live here.
Date:
April 26, 2011 (All day) Restore our treasurer policies and follow them
Submitted by Glyphia on April 26, 2011 - 12:24am
Time estimate:
15 minutes
Type:
decision Problem:
When we were on management concerns Kathy insisted that we get rid of our main treasurer and have the a/p and a/r treasurers do the main treasurer's job. She also insisted that the a/p treasurer be put as a signer on all house accounts. This system has fewer checks and balances making it less secure and easier to hide embezzlement.
Ideas:
Since we are no longer on management concerns, we can once again make our own policies. Let's restore the 3 treasurer jobs to the way they were before and take the a/p treasurer off all accounts besides the main checking account. Also make sure that we have two signers on each account that currently live in the house.
Pros:
Our accounts will be more secure.
Pros:
Embezzlement will be less likely to occur and be caught more quickly if it does. Bookkeeping will be more organized.
Cons:
There will be more treasurer jobs to fill.
Cons:
Kathy will likely harass us for changing it.
