Election Day

The days has come that we all have been patiently waiting for. Personally I have been waiting for the day to be done. No more people harassing you on the street to make sure you are registered. No more Obama or McCain zealots trying to persuade you one way or the other. No more watching millions of dollars being thrown away in a popularity contest.
For some, perhaps the day is a little more exciting. Their candidate may be elected to fix the problems in this country. And all it took was some patience to wait in lines up to 3 hours and the ability to connect some lines.
Despite my pessimism in the system I still got up at 6am to stand in line and vote. I am not so concerned about who becomes president, as both have positive effects (perhaps evoking revolution) but am more concerned with the referendums. It would seem that voting for local things actually can start change in your community. But perhaps a better system would be to vote every day of the year by making choices that positively affect your community. It seems that voting is just a way for people to sleep the rest of the year.
